Your Creative Start Podcast

Firstly I want to say thank you for taking the time to listen to my podcast.

As you know, it completely blows my mind that there are literally thousands of you tuning in from all around the world. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. The reason why I am writing to you is because I recently received a few negative reviews and ratings about the recording quality of my podcast.

I feel completely devastated and deeply saddened they left my podcast low ratings and soul crushing comments.

It honestly makes me want to throw the towel in. I take pride in producing quality work across everything I do so these comments hurt, like really hurt.

Because podcasts are so popular these days, people have forgotten that they are able to listen to them - for free.

Being able to listen to podcasts free of charge is a luxury, and there should be some understanding that it’s ok if they’re not perfect. What many people may not realise is that I wear all the hats - researcher, interviewer, editor, producer, social media manager, marketer and more. Sadly, I don't have the funds to make the production of this podcast super professional and absolutely perfect. I've always loved it's raw edges, but I know I can’t say it’s “perfectly imperfect” forever.

my podcast is not funded. I don't get paid. I do it because I love it. It's 100% self-funded.

I love being able to connect with each and every one of you, and hearing how much it has changed your lives is payment enough.  However, I've never told you about the sheer volume of hard work that goes into creating each episode. Each episode takes me at least one to two full days to complete. This includes researching potential guests, pitching and securing a time to record, creating the guests's brief, researching and write my questions, recording, editing and producing each episode, uploading each episode on several sites, writing the show notes onto my website for every interview, writing the content for each social media post and Instagram Story, as well as sourcing and editing imagery. And lots, lots more. It's quite a big investment of my energy and time, and I have never been concerned about raising funds - until now.

I don't have financial support and I don’t have regular advertisers.

Last season I dabbled in some episode advertising and I didn't love this traditional avenue of raising funds. And it got me thinking, surely there has to be another way I can raise funds to improve the quality and production of my show. At the very heart of this podcast is you - it was made for you, with you in mind at all times. Being in this fortunate position to create a podcast filled with inspiring interviews, wisdom bombs, actionable advice and practical tips fills me with so much joy. However, it’s time for my podcast to evolve and I need your support.

I have arrived to this point with a lot of unease, but after hearing your feedback - the timing feels right.

I will hit over 50 episodes by the end of this season. So what does this mean for you? If you have been inspired or motivated to start your own creative business, or have felt moved in your own lives and businesses after listening to an episode on my show, I would love you to support me by making a small donation to my podcast.

If 500 of my wonderful listeners each donated as little as $10, it would pay for new equipment and production for the next two seasons.

This goal doesn't include the hours I spend each season working on the Your Creative Start Podcast - of which I will very happily continue to do in my own time. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my podcast and to hear my story. Your interest and contribution in making this podcast the very best it can be, is invaluable to me. I truly appreciate all the feedback (even if it hurts) and the support you give me.
